We're led by Josh, our founder, designer and surfboard obsessive.

Like many of our templates, Josh is a hybrid. Half designer, half engineer, with roots in industrial design, composite technology and fluid dynamics. He designs surfboards using mechanical first principles, fluid flow technology and ergonomic theory.

It's these principles that underpin the design of our templates.

"We're riding composite products. Fluid flow manipulators. Why shouldn't they be treated like that?"

Design is in Airwave's blood; finding the balance between art and science, form and function.

The design of our templates is rooted in fluid mechanics, ergonomics and composite science. They're cut using industry leading CNC technology, for accuracy and precision. Where we can, we'll use the most sustainable materials available. They're often the highest in quality, too.

And yeah, each board is still fine-shaped, glassed and finished by hand, by the best craftsmen in the game.
